Music
Together® is a music and movement approach to early childhood music development
for babies and toddlers, ages birth through four, and their parents. The classes
are about experiencing music rather than learning concepts or theory about music.
Twelve children and their parents meet weekly for 50 minutes during a ten-week
semester to experience new songs, chants, movement activities and instrumental
jam sessions. Both children and adults participate in the circle, led by a teacher
with early childhood and music skills who received training at the Center for
Music and Young Children (CMYC) in Princeton, New Jersey. LEARNING
BY DOING In class, children have many opportunities to create and play making
up rhythm patterns, making up new words and movements to express a sound. Some
children participate fully, others choose to observe and "study" all the musical
stimulation going on around them. All will feel comfortable in the easy-going,
non-threatening atmosphere of the class. The fun continues at home! Included in
the tuition you will receive two CD's and a songbook of the music we use in class.
